The centers provide campus-based direct services and supports at 13 centers located throughout the state. This position is available for Morning, Evening and Night shifts. The Clerk II / Switchboard Operator for the Denton State Supported Living Center uses (VOIP) Voiceover Internet Protocol switchboard. Operates the switchboard and connect callers to the appropriate person. Uses a band mobile radio. Relay and route written and verbal messages. Monitor alarm systems in order to ensure that secure conditions are maintained. Contact security staff members when necessary, using radio-telephones. Use of personal computers and software applications in a windows environment (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook). Meets and Greets visitors and announce when visitors arrive. The Switchboard Operator is capable of handling high volume of calls on a multi-line phone system. The Switchboard Operator answer and place calls fast pace environment and relay important information. Switchboard Operator handles outgoing, interoffice or incoming calls. The external calls placed may be local and/or long distance. The Switchboard Operator Communicates with facility personnel including Transportation, Security, Maintenance and Campus Administration by band mobile radios. The Switchboard acts as the Command Center for communicating information and relaying emergency information/instructions campus wide. Monitors and responds to signals received from fire annunciator panel. Exhibits a thorough knowledge of facility emergency departmental procedures and is able to form proper interpretation and communicate instructions. Works under moderate supervision with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Rotating schedules are common in healthcare and is required for this position. Perform receptionist functions as needed. Maintain professionalism at all times. Inform the supervisor of any unusual calls and unusual behavior by visitors. May handle petty cash. May be required to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays with short notice. A flexible work schedule and overtime may be required. Flexibility and adaptability is required for the job.
