About The Position

The Clerk I, Inventory Control position at APL Logistics involves assisting in the coordination of daily activities related to inventory control under the supervision of the Customer Service Supervisor or Operations Manager. The role focuses on applying continuous improvement models to enhance operational efficiency, maintain accurate inventory records, and ensure effective communication between warehouse personnel and customers.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2-3 years of customer service experience.
  • Inventory experience or accounting knowledge is required.
  • Familiarity with distribution and warehouse procedures and inventory control functions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and proficiency in data entry.
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and interpret safety and operational documents.
  • Legible writing skills and good math skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with inventory management systems.
  • Knowledge of Lean methodologies and continuous improvement practices.

Responsibilities

  • Apply the APL Logistics Continuous Improvement (ACI) Model for operational efficiency to improve business processes and eliminate waste.
  • Implement the 5S Lean methodology to maintain a safe and orderly facility.
  • Meet and occasionally exceed company standards for safety, quality, productivity, and inventory accuracy.
  • Assist the supervisor in coordinating cycle counts, research, aisle audits, adjustments, and inventory reporting.
  • Maintain accurate and current inventory records and reports.
  • Process inventory system adjustments and arrange cycle counts and physical inventories.
  • Act as a liaison between warehouse personnel, customer service representatives, and customers.
  • Resolve inventory-related problems and ensure accurate information is communicated to all parties.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members during tasks and projects.
  • Encourage staff participation in the employee suggestion program and assist management in problem-solving.
