About The Position

The Brattleboro Food Co-op is owned by thousands of local shareholders and is committed to improving the quality of life for our community, one meal at a time. The purpose of this position is to provide excellent customer service and be proficient in all sub departments of the deli counter including juice bar, counter service, pizza station, sandwich station, retail and selfserve sectors. The Clerk will also assist in the achievement of departmental and store goals.

Requirements

  • Self-motivated, organized, responsible, flexible.
  • Team oriented.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Good Communication skills.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Knowledge of terms such as vegetarian, vegan and gluten free.
  • Regular, predictable attendance.
  • Able to work well in a team to achieve departmental goals.
  • Interested natural foods.
  • English proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Provide attentive and courteous customer service.
  • Be proficient in all sub departments of the deli counter including juice bar, counter service, pizza station, sandwich station, retail and selfserve sectors.
  • Assist in the achievement of departmental and store goals.
  • Be knowledgeable about all products.
  • Continue to learn about new products.
  • Answer questions accurately.
  • Maintain case proper displays - good signage, cleanliness, fully stocked.
  • Monitor stock and provide customer assistance in self-serve areas ie: salad bar, hot bar, soup station & retail sectors.
  • Keep all counter areas neat and clean.
  • Sample deli items, organize daily specials.
  • Make juices, smoothies, pizzas, sandwiches etc. quickly and efficiently.
  • Follow safe food handling guidelines.
  • Participate in departmental and storewide meetings and trainings.
  • Train staff.
  • Participate in departmental inventories and projects.
  • Perform cleaning & ware washing duties as assigned.
  • Maintain equipment.
  • Assist member workers.
  • Accept responsibility for own actions.
  • Exemplify honesty, integrity and ethics.
  • Put away orders - follow receiving protocols.
  • Maintain station organization often and as needed.
  • Monitor product inventory and par stocks.
  • Prep items that pertain to the sub department as assigned.
  • Maintain shrink processes.
  • Keep inventory of cases full and well displayed.
  • Follow recipe and portion control guidelines and specifications.
  • Work with Shift Coordinator to assist in the daily workflow.
  • Maintain back stock and par levels of all items for efficient continual service.
