About The Position

SUMMARY OF POSITION:The Day Porter Clerk provides warehouse support in various areas. This includes cleaning & stocking break rooms, offices, cubicles and restrooms. This role also assists with maintenance projects and tasks. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Clean all office/employee break areas and restrooms on a daily basis. This includes (but is not limited to) wiping down surfaces, dusting, mopping, vacuuming & trash removal.Stock break areas & restrooms with supplies (plates, napkins, toilet paper, etc.)Other sanitary duties can be added based on warehouse needs.Assist with maintenance projects and tasks: Some examples are hanging posters, trained to refill battery water fluids in equipment, and cleaning dock doors (for example). The task and projects will come based on the needs of the warehouse.Support other departments when cleaning/maintenance tasks are complete. Maintain safety standards in compliance with company policy.Other duties as assigned.POSITION SPECIFICS:This is a full-time position. Shift start/stop times may vary depending on department and business needs. Initial schedules are not guaranteed to be permanent. Any changes will be communicated with at least two weeks notice. Typical shifts are 8 hours but may require overtime as needed. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:This position does not have any leadership requirements and/or responsibilities.REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:1-2 years related experience.The ability to communicate clearly and effectively (written and verbal).Must be able to read a limited number of two- and three- syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to write and speak simple sentences in English. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment (multi-tasking skills a must).Good attendance record arriving at work on time is critical to success.Good attention to quality and detail.Reliable, punctual and able to follow directions.Ability to stand on feet for prolonged periods at a time with repetitive motions such as bending, stooping, pushing and pulling.Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT: Candidate must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with ability to: stand for long periods of time; ability to become certified (if operating equipment); constantly move about the warehouse; pulling/pushing a cart containing cartons; bend/stoop/kneel/crouch to handle product; regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds; the ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations; and the ability to observe details at close range (within a few feed of the observer). The work environment is often noisy with honking from passing forklifts and experiences hot/cold temperature fluctuations due to outside weather.
