About The Position

The purpose of this role is to perform cardiac monitoring duties and monitor patients identified as a risk for falls from a remote location in a critical care nursing department and/or unit. Incumbents are distinguished by the specialized duties they perform in the critical care environment related to arrhythmia interpretation and clinical monitoring/alarm safety and monitoring patients for falls. In addition to these specialized duties and responsibilities, typical responsibilities include forms management and inter/intra-departmental communications.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent required.
  • 2 years' experience in healthcare.
  • Completion of EKG Monitoring Class.
  • Integrative Agitation Management (IAM) required within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in arrhythmia interpretation.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to read, speak, write, and understand English verbal and written instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cardiac monitoring duties.
  • Monitor patients identified as a risk for falls from a remote location.
  • Interpret arrhythmias and ensure clinical monitoring/alarm safety.
  • Manage forms and facilitate inter/intra-departmental communications.
  • Obtain verbal reports from the patient's nurse regarding care needs and special considerations.
  • Ensure complete visualization of the patient via remote monitoring equipment.
  • Follow instructions from the RN regarding patient ambulation limitations.
  • Observe patient activity and behavior, redirecting as needed.
  • Notify floor staff of the need for physical intervention when necessary.
  • Identify safety risks and communicate the need for assistance.
  • Offer support and feedback to peers and staff.
  • Comply with all hospital rules, regulations, and nursing standards.
