Job Description: JOB SUMMARY The primary function of the full time Marriage Clerk is to issue marriage licenses and maintain the marriage records for Lancaster County. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS Reports to Chief Deputy. No supervisory duties. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Process applications for marriage licenses Respond to mail, email, and phone requests Prepare certified duplicate marriage licenses Input marriage license returns Scanning marriage licenses and applications to maintain records and provide scanned images to the newspaper OTHER SPECIFIC TASKS OR DUTIES Occasionally assist in Probate, Inheritance Tax, and Orphans' Court departments Maintain brochure and District Judge lists for counter use Filing Assist the Deputy Clerk of Orphans' Court as needed Assist Clerk of Orphans' Court and Chief Deputy as needed Prepare waivers for judicial signature Maintain marriage license printing supplies (application paper and envelopes) Maintain marriage license drawer Maintain follow-up correspondence for mailed requests and phone calls Maintain working knowledge of the Marriage Act

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year experience in an office environment
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word preferred
  • Knowledge of Probate and Marriage law helpful
