We are currently pursuing a caring and passionate full-time Clerical/Transportation Aide to join our Sloan Estates Assisted Living team. This position includes weekend rotation. This role will provide transportation to residents at Sloan Estates Assisted Living under the direction of nursing and medical staff; perform activities that will promote physical, recreational, social, spiritual, intellectual, creative, and emotional well-being of residents; and perform clerical and receptionist duties. This individual will also perform duties required of Medication Aides.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid Driver’s License.
  • License as a Medication Aide (40 hour and listed on Nebraska registry) or willing to obtain within 6 months upon hire.
  • Must have a current CPR certification and First Aide or obtain within 6 months upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certified.
  • Flexible scheduling required, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on facility needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer 1-3 months of assisted living experience and geriatric experience.

Responsibilities

  • Transport residents to medical appointments.
  • Coordinate activities.
  • Answer telephone, take message, and/or redirect to correct extension. Greet and direct residents, salespeople, and visitors.
  • Assist in chart audits.
  • Assist with admissions and discharges.
  • Assist in updating the report book.
  • May schedule appointments or events on the calendar as needed.
  • Provide hostess services in the dining room during activities and meals.
  • May assist on the floor.
  • Lead and promote recreation activities, including but not limited to, music, dance, arts and crafts, spiritual arts, cultural arts, nature study, swimming, social recreation, and games for residents.
  • Help decorate the facility for holidays.
  • Answer call lights promptly and courteously.
  • Ensure required paperwork is done prior to appointments.
  • Competence in basic computer applications, including electronic health records.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
  • Utilize individual care plans of residents for the performance of resident care.
  • Administer medications as prescribed by physician on the M.A.R. or by other medical providers.
  • May perform inhalation therapy, which includes inhalers and nebulizer. Oxygen may be given by inhalation.
  • Apply topical applications of sprays, creams, ointments, lotions, and transdermal patches.
  • Instillation of eyes, ears, and nose medications.
  • Take vital signs or observe residents to detect response to specific medications and report to administrator or on-call staff.
  • Assist residents with ADL (Activities of Daily Living), which could include minimal bathing assistance.
  • Perform daily housekeeping and laundry services.
  • Assist in the planning, development, and implementation of activities to enrich the lives of the residents.
  • Report and record all observation and care given to residents to determine changes in mental and physical condition. Reports will be given to administrator or on-call staff.
  • Assist with serving every meal. Prepare and clean dining room if assistance is needed.
  • Answer signal lights or bells to determine resident needs. Run errands, direct visitors, and answer telephones.
  • Take residents to and from appointments in Assisted Living facility van.
  • Check vital signs and weigh residents.
  • Follow provision of medications and health maintenance activities as outlined in 172 NAC 95 Regulations governing the provisions of medications by Medication Aides.
  • Demonstrate personal accountability in the delivery of resident care in a competent, professional, and compassionate manner.
  • Perform and maintain documentation.
  • Communicate effectively between resident, resident’s family, physicians, and other staff members of the health care team in evaluation of care to ensure continuity of care.
  • Verify identity of residents receiving medications and record name of drug, dosage, route, and time administered in the M.A.R.
  • Completes shift end check with oncoming staff prior to leaving duty.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
