About The Position

The Clerical Associate - Level III position at NYC Health + Hospitals involves performing clerical related office activities utilizing both manual and automated office systems. This role may include supervising employees performing routine tasks appropriate to each Assignment Level. The position requires independent judgment and involves moderately difficult clerical duties under supervision. The work schedule is from 9:00 A.M to 5:00 P.M, and the position is full-time and regular.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or its educational equivalent.
  • Six (6) months of full-time satisfactory clerical experience and/or experience interacting with the public.

Responsibilities

  • Perform responsible clerical work in various administrative and operational areas by processing, recording, checking, and maintaining records; files and invoices using alphabetical and numerical procedures.
  • Perform ordinary mathematical computations.
  • Check records for accuracy of information and for conformity with established policies and procedures.
  • Operate a telephone call directory, multi-line phone, or switchboard.
  • Perform clerical operations in an assigned area, such as filing materials and searching for difficult to locate files.
  • Perform data entry and retrieval using a personal computer or other automated office systems.
  • Perform routine data processing functions in the area of production control.
  • May perform incidental typing.
  • May supervise and instruct a small group engaged in data entry and retrieval operations.
  • In the temporary absence of the supervisor, may perform supervisory duties not exceeding 30 work days or 210 hours in a calendar year.
  • Compile and maintain central file of health care setting and clinic patient medical records; compile medical care and census data for statistical reports.
  • Supervise and instruct a small unit of group(s) engaged in clerical activities.
  • Plan, assign, and review the work of subordinates, ensuring satisfactory completion of work performed in the unit or group(s).
  • Serve as principal assistant to a Supervisor of a large section or unit.
  • Assist in preparing and arranging for services and activities in connection with receptions and other public functions.
  • Supervise the operation of one or more multiple switchboards.
  • Perform responsible clerical work in areas such as personnel administration, payroll, accounts, budgeting, and employee benefits administration.
