About The Position

This position provides investigative and analytic support to the Investigations Division of the office and as assistance to the Outreach Unit with the timely preparation of subpoenas for locating and serving victims and witnesses in criminal cases.

Requirements

  • Wisconsin Resident
  • Associate degree in Business, Criminal Justice or related field.
  • At least six months of experience in clerical, analytical and or investigation support.
  • Able to manage a large volume of work quickly and accurately under pressure and keep legible and accurate records.
  • The ability to maintain good working relationships and adapt to assignment changes.
  • Customer contact with employees or others primarily at a routine level involving basic information exchange.
  • Working with distressed and sometimes emotional individuals in person and over the phone.
  • Information exchange with peers and others outside the organization involving explanation of information and the gathering of factual information, which may include communication of sensitive or confidential nature.
  • Gather information, answer queries, and/or ask for assistance.
  • Read, write and comprehend simple instructions.
  • Type reports, short correspondence and memos.
  • Knowledge of all general office equipment computers, copiers, fax machines and multi-line phones.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in use of TLO, FLOCK, CLEAR and Link Charts.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain accurate subpoenas records, notes and Protect entries, and update as needed; provide wanted checks and record searches while maintaining a log for Time System compliance.
  • Work/coordinate with victim witness advocates and prosecutors on status and needs of case subpoenas, inclusive of priority witnesses and recalled cases.
  • Create and manage packages for locating and serving witnesses.
  • Maintain and update information for future needs and until case is adjudicated.
  • Scan or file as appropriate, all case related correspondence and other materials.
  • Locate, provide and articulate case information as needed and appropriate for investigative purposes, specific to gun related crimes and other criminal acts under investigation by our sworn investigators.
  • Monitor social media and other law enforcement (LE) databases in support of ongoing criminal investigations.
  • Link associations of defendants to other sources, create and maintain spreadsheets/databases to demonstrate findings.
  • Answer/respond to calls from citizens, ADA's, Investigators and VW Staff to record and communicate the timely coordination of messages and other case needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
