About The Position

The role of a Risk Management Intern within the Clearing House supports the Risk Management team with ongoing risk monitoring and maintenance of CME Clearing’s risk management framework. Principal Responsibilities Gain knowledge and expertise of existing risk management systems and tools, including SPAN/SPAN2 Assist external stakeholders with product, margin, or risk-related inquiries Monitor markets on an ongoing basis and take appropriate actions to manage risk Provide high-level summaries of market activity to senior management Work on ad-hoc data analysis projects Work with experts and risk specialists to design, develop and implement new market risk measurement strategies Qualifications Pursuing a BA or BS in a quantitative field Experience in a risk management, middle office, or related area in the Commodities, Equity, FX, or Interest Rates space An understanding of futures and options is a prerequisite Must possess demonstrated quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills Must have the ability to work flexibly in a team environment SQL & python skills a plus Expertise in Microsoft Office, particularly in Excel, is necessary Must possess strong oral and written communication skills and be able to articulate complex concepts to a variety of stakeholders Minimum Requirements: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master's degree Local to Chicago Summer 2026 Sponsorship Qualifications: Please note that our company is unable to provide employment sponsorship for this position and can only consider candidates who are legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship assistance (CPT, H1B, F1, L etc.). #EarlyCareers CME Group is committed to offering a competitive pay package for our employee interns. Actual pay offered will be dependent on a wide array of factors including but not limited to: relevant experience, skills, education, location of the internship, and the internship area of focus. Requirements

  • Pursuing a BA or BS in a quantitative field
  • Experience in a risk management, middle office, or related area in the Commodities, Equity, FX, or Interest Rates space
  • An understanding of futures and options is a prerequisite
