About the position
The Cleaning Staff at Wartburg College is responsible for maintaining cleanliness in various areas including rooms, floor surfaces, restrooms, entries, hallways, common areas, laundry rooms, and kitchenettes. The role is particularly important during the academic year and may involve working in multiple assigned buildings. During the summer, responsibilities will include annual cleaning in various campus buildings and assisting with preparations and clean-up for camps, conventions, and events. The incumbent will work with students, team members, college employees, and guests, treating all with respect.
Responsibilities
- Clean according to the defined Operation & Maintenance (O&M) standards in assigned core areas such as residence halls, academic or administrative buildings, or other college-owned buildings.
- Utilize authorized cleaning products and notify the O&M Office Coordinator when supplies are needed.
- Clean drinking fountains, water plants, and address other unique needs.
- Effectively utilize the work order system and respond to assigned tasks in a timely manner.
- Provide input to the work order system for needed repairs.
- Assist in cleaning areas other than assigned core area when needed.
- In collaboration with the cleaning supervisor, provide training and supervision to assigned students and assist in creating a positive work experience for student employees.
- During summer, responsibilities may include transporting linen and making beds; assisting with moving furniture within weight restrictions.
- Work collaboratively with general maintenance staff on assigned tasks.
- Assist with performing event setups and teardowns as needed.
- Fill in for snow removal as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Basic oral, written and math skills.
- Relevant experience preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work with arms above shoulder height.
