About The Position

Under the supervision of the Assistant Crew Supervisor or Building Maintenance Supervisor, the Crew Lead will ensure the building is well maintained and will oversee that staff perform assigned job duties and tasks during their assigned shift. The Crew Lead will ensure that the building is kept clean by using proper cleaning solutions and equipment. The Crew Lead is expected to follow employee safety standards by adhering to both environmental and occupational safety and health administration regulations (OSHA Regulations).

Requirements

  • High school or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of six (6) months experience in janitorial/maintenance industry required.
  • Ability to respond safely and calmly to emergency requests.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment with flexibility, keeping others informed and anticipating needs.
  • Must have knowledge and experience in the operation of commercial cleaning equipment.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate.
  • Knowledge of floor care: stripping, waxing, and polishing of floors.
  • Valid driver’s license and satisfy criteria to be a driver for the organization preferred.

  • Specialized training, licenses, certifications are not required, training will be provided upon hire as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Performs daily cleaning and other tasks to ensure sanitary, safe and clean work environments at each assigned site.
  • Utilizes cleaning products in accordance with manufacturers’ directions.
  • Ensures that cleaning products are never hazardously combined (i.e. ammonia and bleach).
  • Supports Crew Members in completing daily cleaning tasks and provides guidance/training when necessary.
  • Provides training to new Crew Members to ensure they acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities to complete each task.
  • Completes daily tasks/responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Crew Supervisor or Building Maintenance Supervisor and delegates as needed to Crew Members to ensure jobs are performed satisfactorily and that the facility is cleaned thoroughly.
  • Ensures crew is completing jobs specific to parameters established by site (i.e. vacuuming not to begin prior to 5:00pm in Bethpage).
  • Ensures all cleaning supplies are stored securely at the end of each shift.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively with others to describe the problem and solution involved in particular cleaning requests.
  • Addresses emergency cleaning situations as they occur in the facility as directed by the Assistant Crew Supervisor or Building Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Reports all safety violations to the Assistant Crew Supervisor, or Building Maintenance Supervisor, Facilities Property Director.
  • Provides coverage in emergency situations until job is completed as directed by the Assistant Crew Supervisor or Building Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Observes agency policy and procedures for building security and identification of authorized personnel.
  • Exercises awareness of safety hazards to both employees and consumers throughout the agency.
  • Adheres to all prescribed safety regulations by following procedures for careful handling of materials, cleaning supplies, and equipment, under OSHA.
  • Assists in maintaining assigned location in a neat, clean, orderly, and safe manner.
  • Possesses familiarity with the function and makeup of the agency alarm system.
  • Ensures that all required documentation (paper and electronic) is completed/processed appropriately, in a timely manner, and meets quality and compliance thresholds.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
