About The Position

The Cleaner/Janitor performs cleaning and maintenance duties to ensure that commercial spaces are sanitized, organized, and presentable. This role requires attention to detail, a commitment to health and safety, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. This position is deemed safety sensitive due to the fact that a person improperly performing the essential or marginal functions of the job would constitute a threat to the health or safety of the employee, the employee's co-workers, and/or the public at large.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1-2 years' experience in in custodial/janitorial field
  • Prior experience working in a professional janitorial company, hotel, hospital, school, etc., preferred
  • Must have a current, valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Drive personal vehicles to assigned building and perform required janitorial tasks.
  • Knowledge of safe handling and disposal of cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to read and understand labels, SDS (Safety Data Sheets), and safety guidelines.
  • Participate in regular safety training sessions and stay informed of any updates to protocols or standards.
  • High level of personal integrity and ethics.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective self-management practices and ability to manage multiple tasks throughout the day.
  • Ability to establish relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.
  • Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills to communicate with team members and customers.
  • Ability to remain focused on exceptional customer service both internally and externally.
  • The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all cleaning duties for facilities using provided ServiceMaster products, tools, and procedures
  • Perform general cleaning tasks including, but not limited to, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing all designated areas such as offices, restrooms, hallways, and break rooms.
  • Empty and sanitize trash receptacles and dispose of waste following facility protocols.
  • Replenish supplies such as paper towels, soap, and toilet paper in restrooms and common areas.
  • Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
  • Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
  • Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Use appropriate cleaning chemicals and equipment, including PPE, following all safety and usage guidelines as per OSHA standards.
  • Handle and dispose of biohazard materials safely in designated areas when required.
  • Opens and locks facilities, enables and disables security system as required.
  • Report any maintenance issues, damages, or supply needs to the Location Supervisor promptly.
  • To perform any other duties within the scope of the position to meet the needs of the business.
