About The Position

This position supports the service and transportation division with cleaning and detailing fleet buses and customer buses while also driving a school bus route as assigned. This position contributes to an atmosphere of total quality customer service and strives to ensure that buses are in good condition prior to delivery or internal use by performing inspections and cleaning on a daily basis.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency required with one to two years of related work experience. Ability to perform basic mathematical skills to include addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to operate cleaning and/or office equipment (copier, fax, printers) and voice communication equipment.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions including Wisconsin Commercial Drivers Manual, employee handbook, policy/procedure review, and route maps/information.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence such as maintenance forms and mileage/fuel reports.
  • Customer service skills including the ability to effectively speak to customers, other employees, the Dispatcher or the Terminal Manager.
  • Ability to listen to and communicate with managers and co-workers.
  • Ability to maintain and operate cleaning equipment such as large wash broom and pressure washing equipment.
  • Must have basic PC skills including: task/job documentation software, and timekeeping applications.
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Valid Wisconsin Commercial Drivers License with Passenger and Student endorsements is required. Training provided if other requirements are met, however this is a requirement of the position and must be held at time of employment or within a reasonable time period as set in the offer agreement.
  • Must successfully pass the pre-employment Department of Transportation fitness for duty; drug, alcohol testing, physical examination and background check including review of driving record. Must have a commendable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects inside and outside of vehicles/buses for leaks, damage, touch up paint required, and interior/exterior cleaning and disinfecting.
  • Cleans the outside body of the bus, windows, bumpers, and tires, which may involve removing grease, dirt, and dust.
  • Cleans inside walls, floors, seats, dash, and chair rails. This may include disinfecting the vehicle as deemed necessary by management.
  • Demonstrates accuracy and attention to detail in completing tasks, documentation, and dealer management software for recording of work completed.
  • Requests or obtains necessary cleaning supplies to maintain stock for task completion.
  • Maintains a safe and organized workspace in compliance with company policies and Platinum support program.
  • As requests, may dispatch transportation vehicles for trips and other special events as requested. Operates two-way radio and takes calls from transportation staff to assist in providing information to the drivers concerning route, behavior, or logistical concerns.
  • Provide additional support to the Transportation Division by driving a route daily or as requested and by completing assigned projects and duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Complying with all local and State traffic regulations and Wisconsin Commercial Drivers License (CDL) requirements.
  • Safely transports students and/or other authorized passengers per assigned time schedule, route, and bus assignment. Transports only authorized passengers and discharges only at authorized stops per the route plan.
  • Adhere to adopted routes, schedules, and operating policies and procedures.
  • Assist passengers in getting on and off the bus as needed. Safely operate ramp, assist in placement of wheelchairs or other similar mobility assistance devices for the disabled, and secure wheelchairs/mobility assistance devices.
  • Provides quality customer service and communicates safety requirements to all passengers. Makes decisions in a variety of situations regarding priorities and effectively handling emergencies.
  • Addresses passenger misconduct immediately to ensure the safety of all passengers while maintaining professionalism. Reports misconduct to Terminal Manager and completes misconduct report prior to completing the shift.
  • Reports delays, accidents, and maintenance needs. Must be flexible to deal with work schedule changes such as traffic delays, flat tire, or other unexpected events.
  • Inspects bus and checks, gas, oil, tires and water before departure. Completes pre and post-trip inspections per CDL requirements and as instructed.
  • Completes required mileage/fuel report, maintenance requests and time cards in specified time frame.

  • Observes safety and security procedures; reports unsafe conditions and/or driver traffic violations to management team. Demonstrates a commitment to company safety and risk management efforts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
