About The Position

Under the direction of the Shift Supervisor, Operations Manager (OM), and Director of Maintenance Services, Maintenance Ambassadors will provide maintenance services within the Clean & Safes 275 block service area of Downtown San Diego. Neighborhoods within this service area include Cortez Hill, Columbia, Marina, City Center, East Village, and the Gaslamp Quarter. Every Maintenance Ambassador is responsible for one of these neighborhoods, where they provide maintenance services and serve as the neighborhoods liaison. Duties include sweeping, trash removal, doggy bag dispenser refill, tree trimming, pressure washing, graffiti, gum, and sticker removal.

Requirements

  • Valid U.S. Drivers License & clean driving record (required for some schedules)
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Previous janitorial or custodial experience
  • Ability to work varied hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Outstanding customer service skills, in person and electronically (radio/ phone)
  • Strong verbal communication and listening skills
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
  • Ability to use a cell phone for data collection

Responsibilities

  • Remove graffiti and stickers on public property, such as stops signs, light poles, sidewalks, and utility boxes.
  • Enhance street furniture and tree grates by cleaning, painting, and de-odorizing the surfaces.
  • Sweep and mop sidewalks and curbs, including removing human and animal waste
  • Lift heavy trash bags (up to 50 lbs.) and empty public trash receptacles
  • Pick up any illegally dumped trash reported by businesses or property owners
  • Perform landscape maintenance, which involves raking leaves and removing weeds
  • Respond to maintenance calls from businesses and property owners
  • Provide excellent customer service assistance with residents, business owners, tourists, and patrons
  • Participate daily line-ups and safety readings/stretches for of maintenance personnel
  • Conduct daily inspections of equipment before and after use
  • Perform quality assurance duties as directed
  • Compile daily statistics using Eponic work logs, recording completed work orders
  • Complete quarterly training under the direction of Shift Supervisor
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by Executive Director, Director of Maintenance Services, Operations Manager, and Shift Supervisor.
  • Adhere to all local, state, federal guidelines and laws. (i.e. HIPAA, OSHA, FLSA, traffic laws)
  • Adhere to all of the DSDP policies and procedures
  • Answer all calls and radios communication, in a polite and professional manner
  • Clean, maintain, and operate company issued equipment, including vehicles, phones, and radios
  • Use company telephone for data collection (Eponic) and timecard features (Paylocity)
