About The Position

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL SET Holds or is able to secure an Arkansas teaching license within the range of K-6 certification Strives to improve students’ academic performance and motivate students to learn Strive to implement, by instruction and action, the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives Assists the school, i.e., administrators, teachers, students and support staff, to reach their academic and behavioral benchmarks and goals Establishes high expectations for students’ cognitive, affective and behavioral learning, growth and development Contributes to the teaching and achievement of skills, performance standards and outcomes Assists students in making appropriate choices and in decision making Assists in cultivating the development of students’ character Engages in the development of well-rounded students: including physically, intellectually, socially and emotionally to promote good mental and social health in students Creates a classroom environment and lessons that are conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students (including differentiation and engagement) Teaches elementary students: utilizing course guidelines that are aligned with Arkansas teaching/learning standards and other designated district curriculum expectations Assists in the development of curriculum lesson plans that support the elementary core curriculum Uses technology to help students produce projects to demonstrate their understanding and skill attainment Has a passion for teaching in a student-centered classroom Provides opportunities, when needed, for individualized and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student; includes the capacity to recognize the need for intervention Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive and engaging classroom environment Evaluates each student’s progress in literacy and math skills to provide support as needed Creates engaging, active lesson plans to promote student mastery Communicates with parents and other personnel regarding student mastery and progress Supervises students in and out-of-classroom during the assigned work day Maintains professional competence by participating in continuous professional growth, curriculum development opportunities, Professional Learning Communities, Response to Intervention teams, as well as other leadership collaborative teams. Shares in the sponsorship of student activities such as content projects, promotional events, as well as faculty committees and projects Participates cooperatively with the appropriate administrator in their evaluation and professional growth plan Committed to multiple days of professional development in regards to curriculum specific to the grade level; often involves several weeks during the summer months Maintains accurate records of student progress/grades Performs other duties as assigned.
