About The Position

The Classroom Teacher II at UMOS is responsible for providing high-quality early childhood education to children aged 0-5. This role involves planning and implementing educational activities, conducting assessments, and maintaining communication with families to support children's developmental progress. The teacher will also ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and participate in ongoing training and development.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Associate's degree in Early Childhood or related field with 18 college credit hours in Early Childhood Education, or a state-issued Teaching License for pre-kindergarten or early childhood education.
  • Preferred teaching experience with children ages 0-5.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Preferred bilingual in Spanish and English (oral and written).
  • Basic computer skills including data entry and internet proficiency.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license with adequate car insurance.
  • Ability to work flexible and/or irregular hours with some travel.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with children with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of the Creative Curriculum System and Head Start Early Learning Outcome Framework.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule, complete and track all required home visits and parent/teacher conferences.
  • Schedule and complete child developmental screenings and assessments.
  • Ensure collection of and timely online entry of classroom observations and documentations.
  • Complete assessment finalization checkpoints for all children within the specified time frame for each event.
  • Use assessment results to create/update individualized plans in conjunction with parents to address each child's needs and track progress.
  • Plan and implement indoor and outdoor learning environments and experiences using the Creative Curriculum System, UMOS School Readiness Plan, and the Head Start Early Learning Outcome Framework.
  • Implement daily activity plans, field trips, and transition activities, submitting required documents to the Child Development Coordinator in a timely manner.
  • Implement Individual Education Plans (IEP) or Individual Family Service Plans (IFSP) for children with disabilities, ensuring goals are integrated into lesson planning.
  • Maintain required documentation on children and classroom activities, submitting written reports to the Child Development Coordinator.
  • Maintain written and verbal communication with families regarding developmental progress and other pertinent information using the PFCE Framework.
  • Document the Child Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) within the classroom according to regulations, including conducting family-style meals.
  • Implement health and safety policies and procedures, including storage of hazardous materials and conducting health and safety checklists.
  • Participate in the ongoing generation and collection of non-federal shares (In-kind).
  • Use positive guidance strategies to help children learn and promote positive behaviors.
  • Conduct direct sight and sound supervision of all children at all times.
  • Assist with the coordination of arrival and departure of children, and communicate effectively with parents and staff.
  • Attend all staff meetings, trainings, and center activities as assigned.
  • Assist in training and/or supporting other teaching staff as requested.
