The successful candidate will hold students to high academic expectations and believe all children can achieve them. Applicants should demonstrate a strong understanding of the CT Core Standards and the pedagogical and assessment practices supporting successful student attainment of expected learning outcomes. A strong understanding of literacy, numeracy development, and data collection in these areas is essential: the candidate must be able to apply tiered intervention strategies as a part of a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS). The successful candidate must be a strong collaborator who can articulate how they will contribute to a positive and energized school climate and culture, including caring for the social, emotional, and academic needs of every learner. A demonstration lesson may be part of the interview and selection process.

Requirements

• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree with CT Certification 305 (Elementary, grades 1-6) or other applicable certificate
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching the subject area
• Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with administrators, teachers, parents, and students
• Evidence of organizational ability and willingness to pursue tasks to successful completion
• Superior oral and written communication skills
