About The Position

Watertown Public Schools is seeking a motivated and dynamic individual able to effectively teach an inclusive early childhood education program that provides developmentally appropriate programming for students identified for special education and for children who are typically developing; with an approximate 50/50 ratio. Complete daily assignments and all job related responsibilities with care, accuracy and in a timely fashion Create a student-centered classroom which ensures that every child is achieving and moving towards realizing his/her potential Case manages the development and implementation of IEPs for students Cultivate trusting and collaborative relationships with students, parents and colleagues Foster an environment where students proactively demonstrate positive social interactions Develop engaging and dynamic lesson plans with multiple student entry points to ensure high levels of engagement and learning for all students Maintain and actively utilize records of student progress to differentiate instruction and provide actionable feedback to students Use ongoing self-evaluation and reflection to identify areas for improvement, and take action to improve professional practice Directs, schedules and assists in training paraprofessional staff to support students' learning Effectively collaborate with colleagues to design and implement effective instructional practices

Requirements

  • Current State of Connecticut Teaching Certificate: #113; #112; #165
  • Experience teaching students with special needs at the preschool level
  • Ability to foster: A life-long natural curiosity for learning Active learning through play based exploration with a balance of child-initiated and teacher selected experiences Language development and pre-literacy experiences Social-emotional competence A confident transition to kindergarten A partnership with parents and community

Responsibilities
