About The Position

The CTE/Business Education Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in business, career readiness, and related CTE pathways. The teacher will design and implement engaging lessons that align with Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) standards and industry expectations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Education, Business Administration, Career and Technical Education, or related field
  • Valid CT teaching certification (#047 with #010 preferred)
  • Experience teaching business, accounting, personal finance, entrepreneurship, or CTE coursework preferred
  • Strong understanding of CSDE CTE standards, industry competencies, and career pathway expectations
  • Ability to integrate technology, financial literacy, and 21st-century skills into instruction
  • Knowledge of business technologies, software platforms, and emerging industry trends
  • Strong classroom management and student engagement skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues, industry partners, and community organizations
  • Commitment to inclusive practices, differentiated instruction, and meeting diverse student needs
  • Proficiency in accurate English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and academic language
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students and foster a safe and supportive learning environment

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver a comprehensive business and CTE curriculum aligned with state standards and industry expectations
  • Teach business-related courses which may include: Accounting Business Management Marketing Personal Finance Entrepreneurship
  • Career Readiness / Workplace Skills
  • Integrate business technology tools such as spreadsheets, financial software, and digital collaboration platforms
  • Design and facilitate project-based learning experiences, simulations, and real-world applications
  • Assess student progress using varied assessment strategies and adjust instruction to meet diverse learning needs
  • Maintain accurate and timely records in accordance with school and district policies
  • Support student career exploration through guest speakers, industry connections, work-based learning experiences, and CTSOs (Career & Technical Student Organizations)
  • Collaborate with the CTE department, school counselors, and academic teachers to support program growth and alignment
  • Participate in professional development and stay current with trends in business, finance, and CTE education
  • Engage in the teacher evaluation and professional growth process
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student learning and program opportunities
  • Create and maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment
  • Modify traditional instructional methods to reasonably accommodate students with diverse needs
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings, CTE team meetings, and schoolwide initiatives
  • Additional DutiesPerform all other duties that may be assigned by the Building Administrator
