About The Position

Ansonia Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and passionate Part-Time Multilingual Teacher to join the team at Mead Elementary School. The ideal candidate will support multilingual learners (MLs) through engaging, high-quality instruction aligned with the Connecticut English Language Proficiency (CELP) Standards, while fostering a culturally responsive and inclusive classroom environment that values the linguistic and cultural diversity of all students.

Requirements

  • Valid Connecticut State Department of Education Certification in TESOL PK-12 (111)
  • Experience with developmentally appropriate, activity-based teaching and learning.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of differentiation for high achieving and struggling learners.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with others.

Nice To Haves

  • Fluency in Spanish is preferred
  • Experience teaching a foreign language to elementary students with emphasis on listening and speaking.

Responsibilities

  • Promote programming for multilingual learners aligned with the Connecticut English Language Proficiency Standards.
  • Plan and deliver rigorous, relevant, and differentiated instruction that supports individual ML learning plans.
  • Demonstrate appreciation for and responsiveness to students' cultural and linguistic diversity.
  • Select, adapt, and sequence appropriate instructional materials and resources for diverse learners.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure students' academic, social, and emotional success.
  • Assess, monitor, and provide timely feedback on student performance and growth to students, families, and staff.
  • Design, administer, and evaluate a range of formative and summative assessments, including LAS Links.
  • Monitor student attendance and behavior in accordance with district and school policies.
  • Encourage student participation in extracurricular and enrichment opportunities.
  • Plan and participate in family engagement activities to strengthen school-home partnerships.
  • Engage in ongoing professional learning and development to enhance instructional practice.
  • Use district-approved technology resources proficiently (e.g., email, digital platforms, web applications).
  • Integrate instructional technology effectively to support student learning (e.g., SMART Boards, tablets, assistive technology).
  • Comply with the Connecticut Code of Professional Responsibility for Teachers.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
