Administration of Human Resource Programs

The Bridgeport Public Schools is seeking a Physical Education Teacher for the 2025 - 2026 school year at Geraldine Johnson School. This position involves establishing and adjusting instructional goals and objectives to reflect district and school goals, designing lessons that promote problem-solving and creativity, and maintaining standards for student behavior. The teacher will also commit to ongoing professional development, plan learning activities for diverse student needs, and evaluate student progress. Involvement of parents and community members in the educational process is encouraged.

  • Establishes and adjusts instructional goals and objectives to reflect district/school goals, curriculum policies, and the knowledge, skills, progress, and needs of students.
  • Designs lessons that provide opportunities for problem-solving, creativity, and communication skills in relation to authentic, real-world problems.
  • Establishes and maintains standards for behavior that foster student self-discipline and positive relationships among students.
  • Commits to ongoing professional development in content area and pedagogy.
  • Plans learning activities to address individual differences among students.
  • Develops, administers, and evaluates quality formative and summative assessments that reflect a balance of content knowledge and problem-solving skills.
  • Monitors and evaluates students' progress in relation to district/school curriculum and policies and other planned goals and objectives.
  • Encourages, secures, and maintains the involvement of parents and other community members in support of instruction.
  • Involves parents in the assessment of their children's progress and needs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Required certification: Physical Education (044), PK-12.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Three years' successful teaching experience in an urban setting preferred.
  • Experience in the use of educational technology.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.
  • Salary range: $50,825.00 - $105,070.00, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
  • Position in accordance with the Agreement between the Bridgeport Education Association (BEA) and the Bridgeport Board of Education.
