About The Position

TITLE: Classroom /Duty Aide QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of 48 core college credits or a minimum score of 457 on the ParaPro Praxis. Ability to work with staff, students, and the public. Patient, yet firm. Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed. Physically able to perform assigned duties. Previous experience preferred, but not mandatory. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: Building Administrator JOB GOALS: To support the delivery of School District 91's written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement. To assist the teacher in providing a well organized, smoothly functioning class environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the supervision of a certified teacher, prepares for classroom activities. Works with small groups of students to reinforce materials initially introduced by the teacher. Assists individual students in need of special attention. Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up by the teacher. Sets up and/or operates audiovisual equipment. Assists teacher with non-instructional classroom duties, such as snack, toilet, and clothing routines. Checks notebooks, corrects papers, and supervises testing and make-up work. Assists in duties relating to the supervision of the study hall, cafeteria, and bus loading areas as assigned by the principal. Assists in preparing class displays and bulletin boards. Helps construct supplementary materials for use in classroom. Strives to improve and maintain job skills through inservice training programs and other means. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality. Has regular and predictable attendance. Supervises students at playtime and during lunch and maintains a harmonious atmosphere on the playground Directs movement of groups to and from the playground Follows the District Discipline policy under the direction of the Building Administrator. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs all other duties as assigned. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a part-time position scheduled for 15 hours per as week during the school year. Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a Grade 5 - $16.39 or $17.19 per hour depending on experience. This is an "at will" position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The "employment at will" policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91. EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Building Administrator in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on the evaluation of classified personnel. This position has been given an overall physical classification of light duty.
