About The Position

ICF is seeking a Classroom Coach for the Quality Support Center, a key role within the PreK program dedicated to advancing accessible, high-quality pre-kindergarten education for all children in Philadelphia. The Classroom Coach will provide direct support to early childhood educators and program providers through instructional coaching, technical assistance, and professional development—ensuring the delivery of equitable and inclusive learning experiences. This position requires close collaboration with diverse partners to drive continuous quality improvement, foster a culture of excellence, and uphold PreK’s strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. PreK is the City of Philadelphia’s universal pre-kindergarten initiative, dedicated to ensuring that every child has access to high-quality, affordable early learning experiences. The program’s mission is to promote positive outcomes for children, families, and communities by: Expanding access to quality pre-K education for all eligible children Elevating instructional standards and operational excellence among providers, advancing equity, inclusion, and cultural responsiveness, strengthening community partnerships and family engagement. Utilizing data to drive continuous improvement and accountability. This role requires up to 30% local travel within the Greater Philadelphia area.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field required
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in early childhood education, with demonstrated success in instructional coaching or adult learning facilitation.
  • 2+ years of expertise in adult learning, coaching methodologies, and quality improvement frameworks.
  • 2+ years of experience with Philadelphia/PA ECE, including strong knowledge of Pennsylvania’s Keystone STARS and early learning standards.
  • 2+ years of experience with evidence-based early learning practices, curriculum standards, and quality improvement frameworks.
  • 2+ years of experience with Practice Based Coaching (PBC) and Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS)
  • 1+ years of experience in trauma-informed approaches and inclusive, culturally responsive practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified CLASS trainer and credentialed in additional early learning environmental assessment tools, demonstrating expertise in evaluating and enhancing classroom quality.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Child Development Associate, Certified Health Education Specialist) strongly preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and motivate diverse educators and teams.
  • Experience in data collection, analysis, and reporting for program evaluation and improvement.
  • Proficiency in data systems, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Organizational skills, flexibility, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with demonstrated cultural competence and anti-bias awareness.
  • Proficient in digital tools for data management, virtual coaching, and professional development delivery.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver individualized, evidence-based coaching and technical support to teachers and staff, focusing on best practices, curriculum implementation, classroom management, learning environment design, and compliance with PreK quality standards.
  • Facilitate targeted training, workshops, and peer learning to address universal and site-specific needs, supporting educators’ professional growth and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Conduct needs assessments, develop action plans, monitor progress toward quality goals, and ensure alignment with state and local early learning standards.
  • Build collaborative relationships with providers, intermediary organizations, city agencies, and community stakeholders to coordinate services, align resources, and share best practices.
  • Gather and analyze classroom observation data and coaching reports to inform instructional strategies, evaluate program outcomes, and prepare timely, accurate reports as required.
  • Model and promote culturally responsive, anti-bias practices to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of service delivery, honoring the diversity of children, families, and communities served.
  • Engage providers as active partners in their professional growth and ensure compliance with all PreK program standards, fostering a learning community committed to ongoing development and innovation.
