About The Position

In collaboration with the classroom team, the position is responsible for assisting the Special Education Teacher with the implementation of effective academic and social-emotional programming for assigned students. The role involves applying corporate values of respect, honesty, and fairness while pursuing excellence in improving the health status of the people in the region through customer-friendly, geographically accessible, and high-value services within a comprehensive integrated academic health system.

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate Degree preferred with a major in education or related human service fields.
  • Basic knowledge of data entry/management programs such as Excel; training will be provided for those without this background.
  • Prior experience working with children is helpful.
  • Ability to perform independently within department policies and practices.
  • Ability to utilize de-escalation techniques to minimize the need for physical intervention.
  • Ability to remain calm during crisis situations and make quick rational decisions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a psychiatric setting under stressful conditions associated with care of psychiatrically impaired students.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the formulation of social-emotional and behavioral programming consistent with students' IEPs.
  • Implements social-emotional and behavioral programming consistent with students' IEPs, including assisting students with activities of daily life such as toileting and self-care.
  • Collects and manages data on social-emotional and behavioral functioning for assigned students.
  • Prepares and presents verbal and/or written reports concerning social-emotional and behavioral functioning for assigned students.
  • Assists in the implementation of the academic and social-emotional curricula as directed by the classroom teacher and team leader.
  • Provides academic support to students as directed by the classroom teacher.
  • Prepares and submits required paperwork for the student record.
  • Attends and participates in classroom team meetings and other student-related meetings as assigned.
  • Attends and participates in supervisory sessions, staff meetings, or other meetings as assigned.
  • Observes all Bradley Schools policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as required, assigned, or directed.
