About The Position

In collaboration with the classroom team, is responsible for assisting the Special Education Teacher with the implementation of effective academic and social-emotional programming for assigned students. Requirements

  • Baccalaureate Degree preferred with a major in education or related human service fields.
  • Basic knowledge of data entry/management programs such as Excel.
  • Prior experience working with children is helpful.
  • Ability to remain calm during a crisis situation and make quick rational decisions.
  • Ability to prioritize immediate student care needs to maintain a therapeutic environment and ensure safety.
  • Ability to participate in the physical management of students, including lifting up to fifty pounds, reaching, grasping, bending, squatting, kneeling, and physically escorting students.

Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the classroom team, assists in the formulation of social-emotional and behavioral programming consistent with students' IEPs.
  • In collaboration with the classroom team, implements social-emotional and behavioral programming consistent with students' IEPs.
  • Assists students with activities of daily life such as toileting and other forms of self-care.
  • In collaboration with the classroom team, collects and manages data on social-emotional and behavioral functioning for assigned students.
  • Prepares and presents verbal and/or written reports concerning social-emotional and behavioral functioning for assigned students.
  • Assists in implementation of the academic and social-emotional curricula as directed by the classroom teacher and team leader.
  • Provides academic support to students as directed by the classroom teacher.
  • Prepares and submits required paperwork for the student record.
  • Attends and participates in classroom team meetings and other student-related meetings as assigned.
  • Attends and participates in supervisory sessions, staff meetings or other meetings as assigned.
  • Observes all Bradley Schools policies, rules and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as required, assigned, or directed.
