The Classroom Aide position at Northwest Suburban Special Education Organization involves providing instructional and daily living support to students under the supervision of licensed staff. The role is essential in assisting with behavior management, crisis intervention, and maintaining a safe and effective learning environment for students with special needs.

Assist in the preparation and delivery of the education program under the supervision of licensed staff.
Supervise students as directed by the assigned licensed staff member.
Implement behavior management systems established by the program.
Assist in crisis prevention and intervention services under supervision.
Support students with toileting and feeding as directed by the supervisor.
Communicate effectively with students in their preferred mode of communication.
Participate in staff meetings, training programs, and in-service sessions as required.
Establish and maintain effective relationships with students and staff.
Care for classroom equipment and materials.
Collect data and facilitate accommodations as required by the classroom teacher.

Meet state requirements for Educator License with Stipulations for Paraprofessionals.
Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
Experience working with special needs students or childcare experience preferred.
Ability to physically move about the building and lift students (30-80 pounds) if required.
Ability to make minor decisions in accordance with established procedures.
Ability to participate in NSSEO approved behavior management procedures and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training.

Salary based on NSSEA ESP Salary Schedule - Lane II Step 0.
