Job Summary: This part-time position is responsible for Classroom Aide orientated tasks (instructional support, small groups, activity and AM/PM duty) for our 5th-8th grade classrooms. The 5-8 Classroom Aide is one who displays a deep knowledge of Scripture and how it applies to the lives of students. This includes an ability to demonstrate a passion for ministering to students. The 5-8 Classroom Aide must be a professing and maturing Christian enthusiastically supporting Valley Christian's Statement of Faith and mission statements.
Requirements
- Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ that is a consistent testimony among others
- Agree to uphold Valley Christian’s Mission & Beliefs which can be found at http://valleychristianaz.org/about/philosophy/
- Agree to uphold Valley Christian’s Statement of Faith
- Must have and maintain a valid level one IVP fingerprint card
- Must have minimum 1 year of experience in education
- Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally
- Must be proficient With Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Ability to multi-task with organization
- Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment and to react with discretion under varying conditions
- Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement
- Ability to organize and prioritize work
- Ability to resolve problems, follow through, and manage multiple priorities to ensure that goals are met
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Nice To Haves
- Prior school experience
- BS/BA degree or equivalent skill/experience in related field
Responsibilities
- Display a deep knowledge of subject/grade and assist with teaching it from Biblical Perspective
- Display the ability to connect Biblical truth to student lives
- Demonstrate a passion for ministering to students through teaching, counseling, encouragement and mentoring
- Assist in promoting student engagement to inspire and encourage progress while supporting and strengthening the learning capabilities of each student
- Assist teachers on preparing lesson materials, grading papers and managing the classroom
- Exercise open and respectful communication with families, co-workers, supervisors and other school staff
- Assist in managing student behavior in accordance with outlined guidelines
- Assist in providing a safe, thriving and respectful environment for all students in the classroom and on the school campus
- Assist with AM and/or PM duties, as well as activity and lunch duties
- Adhere to and honor Valley Christian School's standards, policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook and Culture Guide
- Perform other related assigned duties
