About The Position

The Classroom Aide position at Traverse City Chums Corner focuses on promoting school readiness by enhancing children's social, cognitive, and overall development through educational, health, nutritional, and social services. The role requires compliance with various standards and guidelines, including the Head Start Program Performance Standards and the Child Protection Law. The Classroom Aide will support a developmentally appropriate classroom environment and maintain accurate records related to food service and attendance.

Responsibilities

• Promote school readiness by enhancing children's social, cognitive, and overall development.
• Comply with Head Start Program Performance Standards and other relevant guidelines.
• Follow agency processes, policies, procedures, and guidance.
• Adhere to the Child Protection Law and NMCAA's Early Childhood Guidance Policy.
• Support a developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
• Maintain accurate records including food service inventory and procurement forms.
• Build relationships with school and food service personnel.
• Ensure a safe, healthy, and organized environment and implement emergency procedures.
• Utilize Active Supervision practices.
• Report incidents and accidents as required.
• Assist in maintaining a child-friendly environment and collaborate with staff.
• Support transportation efforts and may be required to ride the bus.
• Participate in food service operations, including shopping for groceries and meal preparation.
• Maintain accurate records for attendance, meals, transportation, and budgets.
• Participate in professional development to meet annual requirements.
• Utilize platforms used by NMCAA programs such as Podio, E-3, MiRegistry, GOLD, SharePoint.
• Support all NMCAA classrooms by subbing if needed.
• Be present during core hours with children and adapt to flexible schedules.
