About The Position

The position is responsible for assisting the bus driver in providing transportation services to children. This includes escorting children to and from the vehicle, maintaining constant supervision over the children, and assisting teachers and kitchen staff as needed. The role requires a commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of children during transportation and while at the center.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate.
• Enjoys working with young children and exercises patience.
• Able to communicate in English and/or Spanish.
• Flexible to work different schedules, including split shifts.
• Knowledge and understanding of child development.
• Experience in bus and safety risk management.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office and accurate data documentation.

Nice To Haves

• English/Spanish bi-lingual fluency.
• Willingness to develop instructional skills in child development.

Responsibilities

• Accompany driver on assigned routes to pick up and take home all children assigned to that route.
• Conduct daily health checks on the children prior to boarding the bus.
• Escort and assist children boarding and departing the bus, especially those with disabilities.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus.
• Serve as a liaison between parents and staff, reporting incidents and ensuring communication.
• Monitor attendance and presence of children on the bus.
• Assist educational staff with supervision and interaction with children outdoors.
• Assist kitchen staff with food preparation and delivery.
• Attend staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
• Maintain confidentiality of program and client-related information.

Benefits

• Hourly wage range of $18.13 to $24.17.
