The position involves inspecting, testing, sorting, sampling, and weighing raw materials to identify defects, wear, and deviations from specifications. The role may require the use of precision measuring instruments and complex test equipment. Responsibilities include discussing inspection results with product managers and recommending corrective actions, inspecting materials for conformance to specifications, notifying supervisors of production issues, and assisting in problem resolution. The inspector will also discard or reject non-compliant products, mark items with acceptance or rejection status, and record inspection data such as weights and moisture content. Additionally, the role involves analyzing blueprints and manuals to determine specifications and testing procedures, monitoring production operations, writing inspection reports, collecting samples, and grading products based on various specifications. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

  • Inspects, tests, sorts, samples, and weighs raw materials for defects, wear, and deviations from specifications.

  • Analyzes and interprets blueprints, data, manuals, and other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, adjustment and certification methods, formulas, and measuring instruments required.
  • Observes and monitors production operations and equipment to ensure conformance to specifications and make or order necessary process or assembly adjustments.
  • Writes test or inspection reports describing results, recommendations, or needed repairs.
  • Collects or selects samples for testing or for use as models.
  • Grades, classifies, or sorts products according to sizes, weights, colors, or other specifications.
  • Measures dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers.
  • Reads dials or meters to verify that equipment is functioning at specified levels.
  • Compares colors, shapes, textures, or grades of products or materials with color charts, templates, or samples to verify conformance to standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
