About The Position

The Paraprofessional-Inclusion/Resource/Self-Contained position at Caddo Parish Schools involves providing instructional support to students with disabilities in various educational settings. The role requires collaboration with teaching staff to implement instructional plans, monitor student progress, and ensure a safe and supportive learning environment. The paraprofessional will assist in the supervision of students, implement behavior support strategies, and maintain confidentiality regarding student information.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Pass the teacher/paraprofessional assessment test with a score of 450 or higher, or have an Associate degree or higher, or have 48 hours of college with six hours of Math and nine hours of English.

  • Knowledge of assistive technology and computer applications.

Responsibilities

  • Work with students with disabilities in all educational settings to provide instructional support.
  • Implement the instructional plan developed with the classroom teacher as it pertains to the core curriculum.
  • Monitor and adjust the instructional plan based on student needs.
  • Implement strategies and accommodations as developed with the classroom teacher for the student's Individual Education Program.
  • Maintain a log/schedule providing support to students with disabilities within inclusive, resource, and self-contained classrooms.
  • Assist in the routine supervision of study areas, cafeterias, halls, playgrounds, instructional field trips, and bus loading areas.
  • Perform non-complex health procedures and implement Individual Health Plans as applicable.
  • Implement strategies that reinforce positive student behavior and work closely with the classroom teacher on behavior plans.
  • Assist students in using computer applications and related assistive technology.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information and progress as it relates to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.
