About The Position

The Paraprofessional-Inclusion/Resource/Self-Contained position at Caddo Parish Schools involves assisting teaching staff in elementary or secondary schools by providing instructional support to students with disabilities. The role includes implementing instructional plans, monitoring student progress, and ensuring the safety and well-being of students in various educational settings. The paraprofessional will work closely with classroom teachers to support students' Individual Education Programs and behavior plans, while also maintaining confidentiality and adhering to professional conduct standards.

Requirements

  • Must have earned a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Must pass the teacher/paraprofessional assessment test with a score of 450 or higher, or have an Associate degree or higher, or have 48 hours of college with six hours of Math and nine hours of English.

Responsibilities

  • Works with students with disabilities in all educational settings individually and/or in groups to provide instructional support.
  • Implements the instructional plan as developed with the classroom teacher as it pertains to the core curriculum.
  • Monitors and adjusts the instructional plan based on student needs.
  • Conveys knowledge that is accurate and current.
  • Implements strategies and accommodations as developed with the classroom teacher as it pertains to the student's Individual Education Program.
  • Monitors student safety in various educational settings.
  • Maintains a log/schedule providing support to students with disabilities within inclusive, resource, and self-contained classrooms.
  • Assists in the routine supervision of study areas, cafeterias, halls, playgrounds, instructional field trips, and bus loading areas.
  • Performs non-complex health procedures and implements Individual Health Plans as applicable.
  • Implements strategies that reinforce positive student behavior.
  • Works closely with the classroom teacher to implement positive behavior supports and Behavior Plans.
  • Assists students in using computer applications and related assistive technology.
  • Maintains confidentiality of student information and progress as it relates to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.
  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
