About The Position

We are seeking a Classified Linux Systems Administrator with strong experience in Red Hat, Ubuntu, and Kubernetes to support and evolve our infrastructure. This role supports a DCSA-accredited information system and requires expertise working within secure, compliant, and operationally sound environments. The selected individual will help grow and guide NSAD’s role within APL as we continue expanding into operational Generative AI workloads, fostering innovation and discovery. This role not only requires a deep technical skill set, but also superb communication and teamwork abilities. Our team values collaboration and team-building just as much as technical mastery.

Requirements

  • Have a Bachelor’s degree in cyber security, information assurance, information systems, computer science or another related field, OR equivalent work/military experience.
  • Have at least five years of relevant experience managing Linux systems, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 and later, and Ubuntu 22.04 and later.
  • Have experience collecting requirements and crafting specifications for systems using RHEL8, RHEL9 and Ubuntu.
  • Have working knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools like Podman, Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills, are approachable, collaborative, and clear in communication.
  • Are willing to work full time in a closed facility.
  • Hold an active Secret security clearance and can ultimately obtain a TS/SCI level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

Nice To Haves

  • Have a Master’s degree in cyber security, information assurance, information systems, computer science or another related field.
  • Have at least ten years of relevant experience and practice as a Linux Systems Administrator.
  • Have created Generative AI workloads, set up RAG and performed LLM fine-tuning.
  • Have experience with DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) and Risk Management Framework (RMF) practices.
  • Have pen testing and/or CEH experience.
  • Hold an RHCE or equivalent certification.
  • Have experience mentoring or leading peers.
  • Have a current or prior Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and support Linux systems (RHEL, Ubuntu) and Kubernetes clusters.
  • Automate tasks with scripting and configuration tools such as Puppet Enterprise and infrastructure monitoring using tools like CheckMK.
  • Fix and resolve system issues.
  • Partner with developers, cybersecurity, and operations teammates to deliver reliable services.
  • Share knowledge, document processes, fulfill compliance requirements, and support team learning.
