About The Position

The Classification & Compensation Analyst will provide professional-level experience in support of overall compensation programs for the District and its colleges. Work is focused on classification and compensation research, data and market analysis, job studies, special projects, and project management to support the District's compensation programs for staff and faculty positions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution and two (2) years of work experience which involves the administration, analyses, and/or support of classification or compensation projects, programs, and/or initiatives.
  • An equivalent combination of the education and/or experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

  • Prior classification and/or compensation experience in either Higher Ed, Public and/or Municipal government.

Responsibilities

  • Participates and supports scheduled and unscheduled compensation projects, assuming responsibility for assigned project tasks, which may include data retrieval and analysis using enterprise HRIS systems, Excel and Power BI.
  • Supports scheduled and recurring board approved annual pay increases and projects for staff and faculty.
  • Ensures position and job data integrity and accuracy.
  • Participates in pay equity review and analysis projects.
  • Creates and distributes district-wide communications using enterprise email distribution systems.
  • Audits and reviews job classifications, conducts position reclassifications studies to ensure the correct assignment of job classifications.
  • Develops memos with appropriate recommendations for single or multiple incumbent job reclassifications.
  • Researches and resolves pay issues, data integrity issues related to compensation, position management, and job classification.
  • Oversees and ensures employee personnel files are maintained on a daily, weekly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Reviews employee files and records to ensure required documents have been received.
  • Responds to requests for files as needed, including requests from legal and compliance, and external agencies, and follows established protocols for handling employee files.
  • Conducts audits of employee files and records to ensure completeness and accuracy of files, and compliance to records retention policies and procedures.
  • Identifies files and records for disposal according to record retention policy, processes, and procedures.
  • Participates in accurately maintaining and tracking executive agreements, ensuring accurate tracking, receipt, and maintenance of documents and records.
  • Conducts a variety of research and analysis in support of district-wide compensation projects.
  • Responds to individual requests and inquiries regarding compensation matters which range from routine to complex issues.
  • Researches, queries, retrieves, and formats enterprise HRIS query data.
  • Researches and analyzes historical pay data and ensures compensation compliance to state or federal requirements and regulations.
  • Analyzes pay differentials and identifies and resolves pay discrepancies, payroll issues related to compensation/classification, and/or position management errors.
  • Evaluates reorganizations with a small number of incumbents (i.e., less than 5).
  • Determines if a reorganization is warranted, organizationally sound, and agrees with current organizational structures.
  • Develops memos and provides appropriate recommendations supported by research and analysis of best practices for organizational business structures.
  • Reviews, evaluates, and approves position management requests in enterprise HRIS systems ensuring accuracy and agreement with business practices and procedures.
  • Maintains a comprehensive understanding of position management, associated defined attributes of staff, faculty and temporary part-time positions, and effects on job data records for payroll and budgeting purposes.
  • Partners with apprenticeship programs on apprentice pay.
  • Ensures timely delivery of biannual uniform stipends to employees.
  • Ensures employees anniversary stipends are correct and paid on a timely basis which involve researching and analyzing employees' service dates and correcting as needed.
