About The Position

At the Green River Correctional Complex, the mission is to promote safety for the citizens of the Commonwealth of Kentucky by operating an efficient, adult male, medium-security institution. Our main purpose is to provide a safe, secure, and humane environment for residents and to prepare incarcerated felons for a successful reintegration into society through the use of constructive classification, employment training programs, treatment services, and social programs. The Classification & Treatment Officer is vital to this mission by performing duties in the evaluation, assessment, and counseling of inmates.

Requirements

  • EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
  • EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: NONE
  • Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
  • Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional experience in corrections, law enforcement, or a related field will substitute for the education on a year for year basis. Current or prior military experience will substitute for the required education on a year for year basis.
  • SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE

Responsibilities

  • Interviewing, evaluating, and assessing inmates to identify behavioral patterns.
  • Develop case history on inmates.
  • Serve on committees to determine classification.
  • Prepare reports to assist with classification.
  • Provide daily counsel to inmates regarding the institution, as well as personal or family matters.
  • Respond to inmate requests and outside agencies.
