About The Position

The Classification and Compensation Analyst plays a crucial role in evaluating and classifying positions within the organization, ensuring appropriate compensation levels for existing, new, and vacant roles. This position involves participation in annual salary surveys and providing insights on compensation strategies, contributing to the overall mission of fostering a diverse and productive workforce at William & Mary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or a similar field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Considerable experience evaluating and classifying positions to determine appropriate classification and compensation levels.
  • Significant experience using and participating in salary surveys.
  • Working knowledge of HR principles and practices, including applicable federal/state laws/regulations governing compensation (particularly FLSA, OFCCP, and ACA).
  • Knowledge of effective classification and compensation systems and the ability to appropriately use and maintain them.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with the ability to foster a collaborative HR environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures, exercising sound judgment and making reasonable, logical, and defensible decisions.
  • Proficiency with a variety of software applications, including MS Office, HRIS systems, and ATS systems.

Nice To Haves

  • HR Certification (CCP, PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, and/or IPMA-HR).
  • Experience with market/merit-based compensation systems is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in a higher education environment.
  • Experience with the Commonwealth of Virginia classification system or similar state or federal system.

Responsibilities

  • Perform classification and compensation reviews for existing, new, and vacant positions.
  • Provide input on compensation for new and existing employees.
  • Participate in the completion of annual salary surveys.
