About The Position

Join the Santa Monica Seafood team as a Class C Delivery Driver, a vital role ensuring accurate, on-time delivery to customers in Northern California. This position involves safely and efficiently operating a box truck or cargo van to make 10-20+ deliveries per route, providing outstanding service to customers. Deliveries typically range from 2-10 product cases, with occasional pallet-sized deliveries. The role also includes small pick-ups from customers and suppliers. The Class C driver is expected to comply with federal, state, and local safety regulations, as well as company quality standards.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • At least 1 year pick-up and delivery experience
  • Self-motivated and works well in a team environment; desire to learn
  • Good geographic knowledge of the Central California Area, including San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties
  • Reliable, responsible, dependable and detail-oriented
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure, solve problems in the moment, excellent communication skills, and be punctual and reliable
  • Experience using mobile phone applications for tracking, inspections, route information and communication
  • Must submit a copy of must recent DMV report (3 years)
  • Must successfully pass company road test
  • Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs. or more repeatedly with or without material handling assistance

Nice To Haves

  • Food distributor/processor delivery experience preferred
  • English-Spanish bilingual a plus

Responsibilities

  • Operate a Class C – Bobtail / box truck or Cargo Van during day shift hours (5 am-1:30 pm depending on route)
  • Using dock equipment and by hand, sort packages between trucks or vans each morning, helping load one or more trucks or vans
  • Operate a pre-assigned delivery route of up to 20 stops and ensure timely delivery of products to customers, in a professional and customer service-oriented manner
  • Perform routine daily pre-trip and post-trip inspection to ensure vehicle is road safety and report any mechanical defects condition to Supervisor
  • Develop outstanding knowledge of pick-up and delivery customers including locations, access / egress, parking locations, docks, noise and other restrictions, frequent logistics requests, and capabilities such as key drops
  • Use company-issued mobile phone and various applications to receive and follow assigned routes, track vehicle location, conduct pre- and post-trip inspections, and other uses as required
  • Ensure that delivery manifests are complete and accurate
  • Present friendly face to customers and help resolve customer issues
  • Safely operate vehicles and warehouse equipment (e.g., pallet jack and dock levelers)
  • Achieve FSMA (Food Safety Modernization Act) certification (training provided); follow FSMA and other food safety and quality regulations or company operating practices
  • Pick-up orders from suppliers and customer returns from time to time
