About The Position

The CDL Class B Truck Driver is responsible for following a pre-established weekly schedule in delivering batteries to customers on time and in a safe manner.

Requirements

  • 1+ years straight-truck CDL Class B driving experience or truck driving academy.
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License Class B.
  • Air brake and hazardous material endorsement required (or ability to acquire certification within the first 6 months of employment)
  • Valid medical exam card with drug screen dated within the last 24 months
  • Ability to work with customers and their policies
  • Knowledgeable about Federal Motor carrier safety regulations
  • Driving record with 2 or less violations in a 36-month period
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Safety training
  • HAZMAT Training
  • Forklift and pallet jack experience
  • Ability to stand/walk for 8-10 hours at a time; ability to bend, twist, turn, and pull operate a pallet jack. Must be able to pass DOT physical and background check. Able to list up to 130 lbs. May operate trucks for a long period of time depending on schedule. May work under pressure because of delays, traffic conditions and weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Provides on-time delivery to customers. Drivers load their trucks according to stops, as best as possible. Drivers are expected to assist in unloading deliveries at each stop.
  • Driver is responsible to pick up returned product and mark accordingly. Driver will unload return product from customers, mark accordingly and place returns in designated areas.
  • Driver must be sure both outgoing and return loads are secure and loaded for proper weight distribution and according to DOT HAZMAT guidelines.
  • Responsible for reporting violations, fines and accidents to the Cromwell office immediately.
  • Servicing/repairs/replacement of parts should be authorized by the Cromwell office only. Situations involving a breakdown are to be reported to the Cromwell office immediately to authorize servicing.
  • Responsible for keeping the truck and cargo area clean and neat.
  • Use ELD system to accurately perform daily logs including start/stop time, milage, and fuel records. Performs Pre-Trip and Post-Trip vehicle inspections documenting deficiencies and ensures all safety items are in good working condition. Authorized credit cards only will be used for the purchase of fuel. Expense reports with receipts are to be completed and turned in to the Cromwell office on a weekly basis.
  • Driver is responsible for: a. Understanding and following DOT rules and guidelines, policies, procedures, and instructions for HAZMAT. b. Understanding and following Crown Battery rules and guidelines.
  • Ability to properly operate a pallet jack, forklift, and other warehouse equipment.
  • Driver may be required to assist in the warehouse as needed.
  • Be familiar and compliant with the systems, procedures and documentation of the Crown Quality System and how it relates to Engineering and Crown quality objectives.
