Resourceful – We value strategic insourcing, first looking to create solutions internally, and then looking to apply that knowledge to future opportunities.  Primary Responsibility:  Under direct supervision, the Class B Maintenance Technician will be responsible for the completion of general building and facility maintenance, Preventative Maintenance on production machinery and assist with general repairs on a variety of production machinery and other ancillary equipment. Class B Technicians will assist with troubleshooting machine issues throughout the different departments and working with third party vendors to assist with building and/or equipment repairs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required; Associates Degree or technical school certification is preferred
  • Minimum 1 year related maintenance experience and/or training, or combination of education and experience 
  • Successful candidates will have experience with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment; must be proficient in maintaining utility systems (electrical, water, air, HVAC), facility infrastructure and various types of manufacturing equipment
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with demonstrated knowledge and experience troubleshooting mechanical issues
  • Must be highly self-motivated and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a strong "customer" focus 
  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; may have to lift up to and in excess of 100 pounds with the help of others
  • Must have the ability to read and understand documents, letters, etc. and write legibly in English. Must be able to understand and speak clearly, communicate, and understand directions in English as needed. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide both fractions and decimals, solve equations, read a tape measure, and have an understanding of both standard and metric measuring systems.
  • Must become a Certified Fork Lift operator in accordance with SCT training and carry a copy of your certification with you. Must have a valid driver’s license and qualify as a SCT driver.
  • Regular attendance and reporting for work on time are necessary requirements as is availability for overtime work if necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in folding carton or packaging industry working with Bobst Die Cutters, KBA Presses and Heidelberg Gluers is a plus
  • Electrical license preferred.
  • HVAC & EPA experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for applying mechanical skills, knowledge and principles in determining equipment malfunctions and assisting other technicians with restoring equipment to operation
  • Assists with installing, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of production and building equipment with a focus on performing the work safely including following all safety procedures
  • Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment to detect malfunction and discuss machine operation issues and solutions with supervisors and maintenance team to diagnose problem and repair machines
  • Set up and operate various machinery, equipment and tools safely such as forklift, manlift, table saw, router, bandsaw, drill press, circular saw, hand drill, hammer drill, grinder, ox-acetylene set, welding equipment, etc. while following all safety guidelines and procedures
  • Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
  • Serves as a primary interface with Plant Supervisors and Operators in the assessment, identification and repair of developing or non-scheduled issues with equipment and systems
  • Effectively communicates assessment findings and observations to the Maintenance Manager and actively works to create, drive and execute an action plan or solution
  • Completes all PMs and work orders as assigned and completes the corresponding departmental paperwork/record keeping 
  • Proactively reviews and manages Plant Communication Boards to ensure that maintenance needs and requests are addressed in a timely manner
  • Actively partners with Plant Supervisors, Operators and Maintenance Team to ensure that regularly scheduled maintenance is completed with support from the operators as necessary
  • Proactively seeks ways to reduce downtime and improve maintenance work processes to better enable plant operations to maximize efficiencies
  • Maintain upkeep and organization of all equipment and tools assigned to the department and submit requests of any additional tools or equipment that would add to the efficiency and safety of the operation
