About The Position

As a Shuttle Driver at Core-Mark, you will play a vital role in the operation of our business by transporting empty trailers to the Operating Company warehouse locations and delivering full trailers to domicile/shuttle yard locations. This position involves driving a tandem trailer, tractor trailer, and/or straight truck on intrastate and interstate routes, ensuring safe and timely deliveries in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. You will also communicate and interact with customers, vendors, and co-workers professionally, ensuring questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner. The role requires functioning as a team member within the department and organization, performing any duty assigned to best serve the company.

Requirements

  • Valid commercial driver's license (CDL).
  • Experience driving tandem trailers and/or tractor trailers.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations.
  • Ability to perform safety checks and inspections.
  • Strong communication skills.

  • Previous experience in a shuttle driving role.
  • Familiarity with the convenience retail industry.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all required safety checks (i.e., pre/post trip) including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
  • Reports all safety issues and/or repairs required.
  • Follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies.
  • Immediately reports all safety hazards.
  • Inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight.
  • Ensures all required route paperwork is with tractor trailer load and available to driver upon dispatch.
  • Drives and delivers trailers according to predetermined route schedule.
  • Performs hook/unhook procedures per safety guidelines.
  • Parks and stores tractor trailers in designated areas.
  • Ensures all equipment and freight are appropriately locked and/or always secured.
  • Collects and secures damaged goods and customer returns in empty trailer to bring back to driver check-in at base facility and complete necessary paperwork.
  • Unloads all equipment, materials and removes trash from trailers as required.
  • Completes daily record of hours of service and enters in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
  • Performs general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keeps trailers clear and clean as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
