Class A Fitter Welder
About The Position
We are seeking an experienced Class A Fitter Welder to join a manufacturing team in Collinsville. The Class A Fittter Welder will perform advanced welding and fitting tasks while following ASME code standards to produce high-quality fabricated components. This Class A Fitter Welder position requires strong knowledge of multiple welding processes, the ability to read engineering drawings, and the skill to work in a production fabrication environment. Weld Test Requirements Candidates must pass the following tests: 3G plate weld using MIG and Flux Core 6G TIG weld on 2½" pipe to ASME code standards
Requirements
- Minimum 3+ years of fitting and welding experience in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to pass required weld tests
- Ability to read and interpret tape measurements accurately
- Strong knowledge of welding processes and fabrication practices
- Commitment to workplace safety and proper PPE usage
Responsibilities
- Prepare parts and tools for welding and fit-up activities
- Perform welding using FCAW, GMAW, and GTAW processes
- Weld components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions
- Follow ASME code requirements for all applicable welding tasks
- Distinguish between weld types including fillet welds, J-groove welds, and back gouging
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and work orders
- Operate and maintain welding equipment and fabrication tools
- Use powered and manual hand tools during welding and assembly
- Set up ladders, scaffolding, and temporary equipment when required
- Work effectively within a team environment while following safety procedures
