About The Position

The Class A Driver is responsible for transporting goods like wine, lees, case goods, machinery or anything needed in a professional, safe, and timely manner. This often requires local deliveries within Napa Valley but may also include regional and long-distance hauls. Reports to: Director of Logistics

Requirements

  • CDL Class A Driver’s License.
  • Tanker, Doubles and Tipples Endorsement.
  • Ability to fix minor mechanical repairs for example light bulbs, mud flaps, air hoses etc.
  • Thorough understanding of DOT and state regulations.
  • Good communication is needed to interact with dispatches and other personnel.
  • Ability to sit and drive for extended periods, enter and exit the cab frequently, and potentially stand for a portion of the day.
  • Accuracy in completing logbooks and other paperwork related to deliveries is necessary.
  • Good driving records, passing drug tests and medical examinations, and meeting other DOT standards are common requirements.
  • Have up to date CDL DOT Physical
  • Ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to carry up to 50 pounds over moderate distances.
  • Ability to bend, twist, stoop, reach, crawl and walk.
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with the type of freight hauled by the winery (e.g., grapes, wine, wastewater etc.) is a significant plus.

Responsibilities

  • Have knowledge in Pre Trip inspections and perform every morning before starting a job.
  • Operating a tractor-trailer in accordance with Federal and State regulations, including hours of service, and maintaining a safe driving record.
  • Performing basic vehicle maintenance, such as checking fluids and tires, and reporting any issues.
  • Keeping accurate records of driving hours, fuel purchases, and other required documentation.
  • Assisting with loading and unloading cargo, ensuring proper procedures are followed.
  • Transport wine, case goods, lees, machinery, etc.
  • Operate Forklift safely.
  • Must follow all DOT and State regulations
  • Adhering to all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Ensuring all necessary paperwork, such as bills of lading, is accurate and complete.
  • Have good communication skills with Supervisor, Inspector, Co-Workers, and our Customers.
  • Able to work weekends and overtime.
