About The Position

The Driver will be expected to transport and deliver building materials to our customers, distribution centers and/or construction job sites using a tractor-trailer. This position requires a wide range of skills from practicing safe driving and delivery to top-notch customer service. The Ideal candidate will provide customer responsiveness and efficient material handling and delivery activities.

Requirements

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Have an acceptable accident and moving violation Motor Vehicle Record.
  • 2 years of previous tractor-trailer flatbed driving experience including winter driving experience (equivalent Military DD214 experience is acceptable).
  • Valid Medical Card.
  • Must be able to pass DOT pre-employment drug screen and DOT physical.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Ability to work effectively with people in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work in degrees of precision and control where damage could be considerable.
  • Attention and care required to prevent injury to others when performing work.
  • Ability to stoop, bend, stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to maintain a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Safely assist in the unloading of the product using a Moffett to customer's location and/or return products.
  • Deliver material in 'route truck/multi-drop' fashion to destinations in accordance with Federal regulations.
  • Apply knowledge of commercial driving and skills in maneuvering vehicle at varying speed in difficult situations, such as heavy traffic, inclement weather or in tight loading dock areas.
  • Maintain records required for compliance with State and Federal regulations including driver logs, fuel purchases, mileage records, and other records required by law.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures, and comply with all Federal, State, and local regulations for safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle.
  • Able to answer questions regarding packing lists, invoices, packaging, and material content. If unable to answer specific questions, direct customer to appropriate contact.
  • Perform pre & post-trip inspections thoroughly.
  • Maintain cleanliness and integrity of vehicle and equipment.
  • Immediately report any necessary repairs and/or maintenance needed.
  • Actively ensure compliance with DOT guidelines.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
