About The Position

This position is for a Class A CDL Driver, initially temporary with the potential to become full-time. The role involves operating a 10-speed manual commercial vehicle to deliver steel metal products to client sites. Key responsibilities include conducting pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, ensuring proper safety procedures for securing and transporting materials on a flatbed using chains, straps, and occasionally tarps, and safely maneuvering trucks for loading and unloading. The driver will also be responsible for documenting inspection information, reporting incidents, and verifying load-related documentation.

Requirements

• Must have class A CDL license, and clean driving record
• Must pass pre employment DOT drug and alcohol test, and have updated DOT medical card
• Must have at least two years of verifiable driving experience and be at least 21 years of age to drive under company insurance
• Must have chains and binding experience

Responsibilities

• Operating a 10 speed manual commercial vehicle to deliver steel metal products to client sites
• Complete pre trip and post trip inspection of vehicle and documents on daily checklist
• Follow appropriate safety procedures for securing and transporting materials by properly strapping and binding down onto flatbed with chains or straps, and occasionally covering load with use of tarps
• Safely maneuvers trucks into loading or unloading positions
• Records any inspection information or list of defects on the Daily Vehicle Inspection Report
• Reports traffic incidents, including, traffic accidents and violations, or damage to the vehicles to supervisory staff
• Reads bills of lading and manifests to determine assignment details
• Checks all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate and obtains receipts or signatures for delivered goods or collects payment for services when required
• Other duties and responsibilities to be assigned by supervisor
