About The Position

The Class A CDL Driver will operate a straight truck, tractor-trailer, or double trailer to deliver products or assets in a safe and timely manner to customers, warehouses, distributors, etc., according to the delivery route schedule as determined by the Supervisor. The role requires demonstrating high standards of customer service and frequent communication with peers, supervisors, and others.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2 or more years of experience driving a tractor trailer, straight truck, or doubles trailer, within the last 5 years preferred
  • Must meet minimum age requirements
  • Must meet DFA requirements for Motor Vehicle Records
  • Must meet all DOT requirements
  • Valid Class A CDL; some drivers may be required to have a doubles endorsement
  • Knowledge of DOT procedures, rules, and requirements
  • Skill in proficient computer usage
  • Skill with math for calculating load size and recording accurate volume/weight measurements
  • Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Good organization and record keeping skills
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English

Responsibilities

  • Operate a commercial motor vehicle in compliance with DOT and DFA rules, regulations and policies adhering to all safety practices
  • Deliver products or assets according to route schedule and customer delivery expectations in a safe and timely manner
  • Report delivery delays to management due to road conditions, accidents or breakdowns
  • Load and unload product as required at designated stops
  • Communicate effectively and maintain good relations with customers
  • Ensure and/or perform proper maintenance on assigned vehicles and equipment
  • Complete all daily paperwork fully and correctly each day
  • Perform load inventory and document condition of freight before departure
  • Attend all driver workshops and training sessions
  • Use company supported applications or systems properly
  • Represent DFA positively and professionally at all times
