About The Position

Heartland Sheets, an affiliate of Schwarz Partners and corrugated manufacturing industry leader, currently has an exciting opportunity available for a 2nd shift Clamp Truck Operator in Kansas City, MO. The 2nd shift schedule is 3pm-11pm Monday-Friday. The Clamp Truck Operator operates the clamp truck in a safe but expeditious manner to unload incoming rolls and move rolls to/from the corrugator as needed for production. Requirements

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; ability to use a tape measure
  • Ability to use a computer.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English; able to understand and speak English one-on-one and via hand-held radio.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or GED; plus one to three months related experience and/or training; or a combination of education and experience.
  • Experience operating moving equipment such as forklift and/or clamp truck, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety and company policies, reporting any issues, accidents or incidents immediately; must complete online safety training each month as assigned.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Daily inspection of clamp truck at the beginning of each shift and complete daily check sheet.
  • Unload roll stock from incoming trucks and rail cars.
  • Accurate tag all new rolls with proper identification and bar codes.
  • Responsible for following the queue and making necessary footage adjustments as needed.
  • Load rolls to corrugator in the proper size, grade and quantity to match run line up.
  • Unload butt rolls from the corrugator making sure all tag information is correct.
  • Place all rolls in the correct bays in the roll room, facing proper direction, properly handling all rolls to avoid damage.
  • Maintain constant communication with corrugator crew.
  • Follow all established SOP’s as well as newly introduced SOP’s.
  • Responsible for maintaining cleanliness of work area, equipment and tools for the job.
  • Report any malfunctioning equipment, injuries, or incidents immediately.
  • Blow out clamp truck motor daily.
  • Assist wet end crew with hanging splices, as needed.
  • Follow job rotation allowing operators to take breaks.
  • Change out propane tank on clamp truck as needed.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
