JOB SUMMARY The Claims Training Specialist works with the HomeFirst leadership team to develop and implement training modules for new hires in the Claims Care Representative (CCR) and Claims Adjuster (CA) positions. This position reports to the Claims Manager and exists to create consistency in initial and ongoing training. The Claims Training Specialist is dedicated to the development of Claims team members in addition to new hires and facilitates a professional training program that fosters improved customer service while assisting with process improvements.

Requirements

  • High School diploma required.
  • 3 years of claims experience (all types).
  • Travel expected 1-3 times per year, or as needed, for conferences, training, team building, and other various needs.
  • Must have strong computer skills with ability to navigate Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong working knowledge handling all types of property loss claims.
  • Ability to prepare and deliver presentations using PowerPoint and related media.
  • Skilled at building and maintaining relationships.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to take constructive criticism and maintain self-awareness on constant professional improvement.
  • Empathetic and driven with customer service focus.
  • Requires continual development on personal level in Claims through CE and Professional development courses.
  • Requires flexible work schedule during peak periods.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently via phone, email, and person to person.
  • Capability of gathering facts accurately, analyzing causes, evaluating alternate solutions, and arriving at sound conclusions on action to be taken.
  • Ability to manage multiple and/or conflicting responsibilities.
  • Great attention to detail and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Property and Casualty Adjuster State Licensing in good standing/other Insurance Designations preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • New Hire Training Creates and facilitates structured programs to ensure new hires are adequately prepared to meet departmental expectations.
  • Trains on new and existing materials empowering new hires to achieve successful results.
  • Suggests and implements learning topics into existing programs.
  • Applies training methodology and knowledge to teach and support department learning.
  • Continual Training and Development Develops and maintains training programs enhancing team member development.
  • Establishes goals and champions the department vision provided by leadership.
  • Suggests and implements learning topics into existing programs.
  • Applies training methodology and knowledge to teach and support department learning.
  • Claims Adjuster Support Provides support to the Claims Adjuster team as needed.
  • Performs claim handling duties to assure uninterrupted service for our customers: Records statements of insured claimants and evaluates personal property reports.
  • Determines coverage and payment of claims.
  • Requests, reviews, and issues settlement checks and claims letters.
  • Negotiates effectively and fairly with claimants.
  • Maintains professional and constant dialogue with claimants.
  • Audit Claim Files Audits completed claim files to assist the development and recognize training opportunities of team members.
  • Assists leadership with audits as needed for improvement opportunities of the team.
  • Other duties as assigned
