About The Position

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Determine and report on subrogation potential to Office Claims Representatives and advise appropriate investigative actions to be completed. Determine liability, identify subrogation rights, confirms damages, prepares for litigation, status reports, and negotiate subrogation settlements in the best advantage of the company, considering factors such as litigation cost, value of the insured's  auto claim, continued recovery attempt expense, comparative negligence of the insured, statutory limits, and current Case Law. Provide for subrogation data accumulation and documentation. Set up and maintain subrogation claim files for each claim Update system information concerning subrogation claim status; Print or request printing of necessary data from claim system to meet external documentation requirements responsible for receiving, reviewing, and issuing demands on all automobile subrogation claims where recovery potential exists. They will conduct research on subrogation matters to determine the best collection method to apply to include communicating with adverse parties and their insurance carrier on monetary recovery and working with legal counsel on those claims where litigation exposure exists; and Responsible for constructive use of outside vendors to assist with recovery when necessary. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES/REQUIREMENTS: Assists with projects as required and other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager. QUALIFICATION, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:  1. Requires: 1. 2 years college; and 2. Three years claims related experience; or 3. 5 years claims related experience 2. Prior background in handling subrogation claims, preferred. 3. Strong time management, organization, and communication skills. Language Skills: Must be able to read, analyze and interpret procedures, regulations, instructions, manuals and other documents as required. Excellent telephone, public relations and oral/written communication skills are required. Reasoning Skills: Must be able to solve practical problems and deal with variety of concrete variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form. Computer Skills: Must possess intermediate skills and be proficient or have demonstrated aptitude with computers including experience with Excel, Word, and web-based systems. Proficiency in call center reporting a must. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to operate in a normal office environment with occasional travel necessary to visit office locations, conduct investigations, and attend conference/training classes and meetings. The employee is required to sit, use hands to finger, handle controls, talk, and hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, lift and move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision requirements for this job include close vision. EOE M/F/D/V AA

Requirements

  • 2 years college; and Three years claims related experience; or 5 years claims related experience
