New Jersey Resources (NJR) is seeking a Claims Resolution Specialist to investigate and adjust property damage, bodily injury and other claims against NJR and its affiliates (the "Company"), prepare and process easements, gather company documents in connection with claim investigations, litigation and customer complaints, maintain Legal department files, assist with the investigation and processing of automobile claims and provide assistance on special projects and general office support to the Legal department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of related work experience with claims analysis or related field required
  • Strong organization, time management, and analytical skills
  • Good oral and written communications skills
  • Working knowledge of computer-based software applications including, but not limited to Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Valid driver’s license required

Nice To Haves

  • Recent experience with a law firm or engaged in litigation is a plus
  • Travel required – 10% or as needed

Responsibilities

  • Investigate, analyze and resolve general liability and other claims against the Company.
  • Investigate incoming claims and prepare documentation containing findings of fact supporting the investigation.
  • Identify witnesses, communicate with in-house personnel, customers and claimants to gather facts and support management and others in analyzing liability issues to support claims decisions.
  • Research internal systems and other Company records for all supporting documentation and draft timeline summaries, memos, and letters to claimants, under the direction of the Attorney General Counsel notifying them of appropriate resolution for individual claims.
  • Prepare draft easements, locate property deeds in county title records, electronically record easements and maintain and update the transmission line books and the Easement and Right of Way spreadsheets.
  • Open and close files, maintain filings for claims and litigation matters, convert paper files to digital and prepare records to be sent to Records Retention.
  • Manage hard copy and digital documents including drafting correspondence and memoranda as needed.
  • Open mail, scan documents, calendar dates, and prepare documents for mailing and shipping.
  • Prepare voucher requests for settlement payments, payments to vendors, and for state court accounts and other vendors who support the Department.
  • Gather company records in response to litigation and third-party subpoenas.
  • Assist with the investigation of automobile accident claims as needed.
  • Provide administrative support to the management team, including maintaining departmental spreadsheets and completing tasks assigned by the Attorney General Counsel and other attorneys.
  • Order and stock supplies and maintain supply cabinet.
